substrate from aquarium plants.com

Postby gonsouth on Wed Dec 23, 2009 9:38 am

no one answered my question about sunlight so I'm going to try another. I got substrate from aquarium plants.com and it has dropped my ph drasticly. My well water is very soft and very acid (ph around 4 or five) I have a treatment system on my house water to raise the ph to about 7.8 or8 I didn"t know about the ph drop so when I filled the tank (20GL) I used half treated and half untreated. Ph reads 5 and hardness is high off the charts. WTF !!! Should I do anything like add baking soda or just leave it. I have some plants to cycle it, but I'm afraid to put fish in.
